Exhibition of the Animation Film 'The Great Indrikis'
From February 15th to April 29th, the exhibition 'The Great Indrikis' can be seen on the 7th floor of the Latvian National Library, where 150 dolls from the animation film 'The Great Indrikis' are displayed.
The character of the Great Indrikis was created by the artist and screenplay writer Māris Putniņš in his book series 'Wild Pies'. In his created world, all the heroes are related to food or plant origins (pirate pies, dumpling fishermen, invaders from Baltaine called belaši, etc.), as well as various places (Ņamburga, Rīga-Rīma, Trifelgar, etc.). The third book 'Wild Pies and the Great Indrikis' tells the story of the return of Baltaine pie Indrikis home, where enemies from the east have intruded. It is not difficult to connect the described land (and national dishes) with specific Baltic historical events.
The puppet animation film 'The Great Indrikis' is the first feature film of the animation studio 'Animation Brigade'. In the exhibition, all the used dolls and decorations can be seen, as well as learn more about the making of the film. Both the film and the exhibition will delight enthusiasts of all ages, as many are familiar with Putniņš and Cimmerman's 'Emergency Brigade' or 'Monk and Lemmy'. Now, 'Wild Pies' and our own hero, the Great Indrikis, have arrived.
Admission is free. More information on the Latvian National Library website.
