Ape Town Festival “Ape 94”

             From 26 to 28 August, Ape will celebrate its festival, interweaving the theme “All roads lead home”. The festival is a time when close and distant friends, family members, relatives and acquaintances gather in Ape, filling the town with special feelings and unforgettable moments of reunion.
On Friday, 26 August, as usual, we will open the festival with a prayer service at St Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ape (11 Pasta Street). But we invite you to enjoy an evening of wonderful sensations in the centre of Ape, in the very heart of the town, where we will hear familiar international and Latvian songs, rhythmic and flowing melodies, the harmony and resonance of outstanding voices, as well as virtuoso musical interplay and performances. To our delight, Elizabete Zagorska will perform—a singer whose velvety voice timbre and powerful vocals give songs a particularly unforgettable atmosphere. The singer will be accompanied by her trusted musicians—Nellija Bubujanca, Latvia’s best female drummer, and Jānis Lemežis, a one-man orchestra, vocalist, keyboardist and saxophone virtuoso.
On Saturday, 27 August, the town will be awakened by the resonant melodies of Ape’s brass band and the lively craft market on Ganību Street.
The special event of the festival is the completion of the reconstruction of Avotu and Skolas Streets, so we invite everyone to take part in the Unity March—a procession along Skolas and Avotu Streets, decorated in Latvia’s red-white-red colours.
Throughout the day, everyone will be able to choose what is closest to their heart: we will play volleyball (at 1 Lauku Street), honour the newborn residents of Ape, Trapene, Gaujiena and Vireši parishes, listen to and watch performances by Ape’s singing and dancing children (in the town centre), learn about the town, its people and their achievements, take part in a cycling adventure with Mairis Levanis and Jānis Baltaisbrencis, get to know military vehicles and equipment (in the square at 4 Skolas Street), visit the exhibition rooms of Elīna Zālīte’s Memorial House and even catch crayfish (at 24 Dzirnavu Street). After a longer break, and with great pleasure, we also invite you to take part in the quiz game “The Mind Laboratory” (at 4 Skolas Street).
In the evening programme, in the town centre, we will enjoy the festival concert programme “Valodiņa”, featuring Mārtiņš Kanters QUATTRO, with Mārtiņš’s best songs created in collaboration with Raimonds Pauls. Summery and light. The band “Vintāža” and DJ Japānis will take care of good music throughout the night.
On Sunday, 28 August, Cemetery Festival will be held at Ape Town Cemetery and Meža Cemetery.

The programme is subject to change, but the main events have been planned, and we are confident that everything we have envisaged will be a success!
