Skrunda Municipality is located in an area endemic for tick-borne encephalitis; in 2019, children under 18 years of age can receive a state-funded vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis.
The Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC) informs that, each year, state-funded vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis for children from one year of age until they reach 18 years of age is carried out in accordance with the following provisions of Sub-paragraphs 23.'1 and 23.'2 of Cabinet Regulation No. 330 of 26 September 2000, “Vaccination Regulations” (hereinafter the Regulations):
23.'1. In areas where, according to the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control’s epidemiological surveillance data, the incidence of tick-borne encephalitis is highest (areas endemic for tick-borne encephalitis), provided that the child’s declared place of residence is in an area endemic for tick-borne encephalitis. Vaccination is planned and carried out by the family doctor whose primary practice is located in the relevant area;
23.'2. Orphans and children left without parental care. Vaccination is planned and carried out by the family doctor. In childcare institutions and boarding schools, children’s vaccination is planned and organised by the administration of the relevant institution.”
