In accordance with the extended restrictions introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the information about the operations of the Latgale Central Library (LCB) and its branches during the state of emergency has been updated.

  1. All library visitors aged 13 and over must wear a face mask or face shield. Hands must be disinfected upon entering the library.
  2. Only individual visits are permitted in libraries, except for members of the same household.
  3. A distance of 2 metres must be observed during a library visit; at least 10 square metres are allocated per visitor.
  4. Library visitors may remain on the library premises for no longer than 30 minutes.
  5. Libraries continue to lend books, magazines and other publications for use at home. All publications returned by readers are placed in “quarantine” for 72 hours.
  6. Computers for public use are not available to library visitors.
  7. Organising in-person events, user training and creative group activities is prohibited in libraries.
  8. The Family Digital Activities Centre is closed to visitors.
  9. Persons displaying symptoms of a respiratory infection (fever, cough, shortness of breath) are prohibited from being on library premises.
  10. Library visitors are encouraged to use services remotely.

10.1 Registered users of the LCB and its branches may, upon presenting their library card, return books to any public library in Daugavpils, regardless of which library the books were borrowed from.

  1. As the epidemiological situation changes, the procedure for serving library visitors may be amended.

The library offers a range of services available remotely: registering as a library user by completing an online form; reserving books and extending loan periods in the user profile of the electronic catalogue “My Library”; access to databases and the 3td e‑BOOK library; digital reference services by writing to info@lcb.lv; and remote library lessons for school pupils and students.

We invite you to follow the latest news on the library website www.lcb.lv, as well as on the Facebook pages of the LCB and its branches, where all current information about the library’s operations and the services it provides, both in person and remotely, is available.
