The Cabinet of Ministers has decided on a number of changes easing the organisation of sports competitions and amateur training sessions as of 15 June.

  1. Outdoor sports competitions organised by sports federations recognised in accordance with the procedure laid down in the Sports Law or by their legal members are permitted. Competition organisers must comply with the specified epidemiological safety measures.
  2. In-person outdoor sports competitions may henceforth be attended by spectators who present a valid interoperable vaccination against COVID-19 or COVID-19 recovery certificate. Competition organisers are responsible for organising the flow of spectators and ensuring that it is controlled in accordance with epidemiological safety requirements.
  3. Indoor sports venues may also resume operations in an organised and controlled manner, offering training sessions to persons who can present a valid interoperable vaccination, recovery or testing certificate. The conditions for providing services and the epidemiological safety requirements will also differ depending on the type of certificate presented. If the service is provided to persons who have been vaccinated against or recovered from COVID-19 (ensuring that the staff also meet the aforementioned requirements), no additional conditions will have to be observed. However, if services are provided to tested persons or holders of different certificates (tested, recovered or vaccinated) are present in the same room, additional conditions must be observed regarding the floor area per person, room occupancy, the size of training groups, the duration of training, etc. Organisers of training sessions are responsible for complying with the specified epidemiological safety measures.

The adopted regulations comply with the traffic-light principle previously defined by the Cabinet of Ministers, according to which individual indoor sports sessions would gradually resume when the 14-day cumulative rate per 100,000 inhabitants does not exceed 250 COVID-19 cases, while outdoor sports competitions would resume when the 14-day cumulative rate per 100,000 inhabitants does not exceed 200 COVID-19 cases.

The regulations on the conditions for organising outdoor sports competitions have been agreed with the social partners of the sports sector.

At the same time, discussions will continue to find a solution for resuming individual indoor training for persons who do not have the aforementioned interoperable certificates, particularly children and young people, taking into account the epidemiological situation and its development.
