Katrīna Gupalo and Andrejs Osokins’ Christmas Concert to Take Place at Bauska Castle

On 27 December at 7:00 p.m., Bauska Castle will host the “Winter Feelings Concert” by the talented singer Katrīna Gupalo, who has an extraordinary voice, and the outstanding pianist Andrejs Osokins. The musicians will perform Christmas songs by the legendary Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and other beloved musicians and composers from around the world.
The concert will be complemented by atmospheric works by Frédéric Chopin, Johann Sebastian Bach, Pēteris Vasks and Ādams Ore, performed solo by Andrejs Osokins.
The artists have been performing together for many years, offering audiences a variety of concert programmes. The concert programme “100 Years with Piaf”, which has been performed in 15 concert halls throughout Latvia, as well as the jazz theatre production “After Midnight”, have received particularly high acclaim. Since its premiere on 14 February this year at the Great Amber Concert Hall in Liepāja, the production has been staged in many places in Latvia, as well as in London, United Kingdom. At the beginning of 2018, the musicians will also tour with this production in Alūksne, Valmiera, Ventspils, Daugavpils and Riga.
Andrejs Osokins is a laureate of the world’s most important international piano competitions, including the A. Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv, the Marguerite Long–Jacques Thibaud Competition in Paris, the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and others. He has received the Latvian Grand Music Prize. The most sought-after Latvian pianist internationally, he regularly performs in Europe’s most prestigious concert halls—the Berlin Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Alte Oper in Frankfurt, LaVerdi Hall in Milan, Kings Place in London and elsewhere. He has performed with numerous orchestras from Belgium, France, Manchester, Brighton and Dublin, and collaborated with leading contemporary conductors. Andrejs possesses impeccable elegance, hypnotic personal charm, admirable intellect, a broad and expressive palette of tonal colours, and an unusually convincing feel for various musical styles.
Katrīna Gupalo is one of the most unconventional Latvian musicians. She recently completed her studies at the prestigious Colburn School in California, USA, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. She has participated in masterclasses led by outstanding musicians, including Dmitri Bashkirov, Jerome Lowenthal, Leon Fleisher, Thomas Adès and others. Her talent has been recognised at various international competitions in Paris, London and Moscow, as well as in the Latvian Television competition “Born for Music”. Thanks to her professional education in three different artistic fields—piano performance, singing and acting—Katrīna is able to conjure an extraordinary, expressive and sensual world on stage. Songs composed and performed by the talented pianist and singer will soon also be available in the form of a debut album.
