Free public transport will be available to a wider range of Rēzekne residents

In Rēzekne’s public transport, residents whose average income over the past 12 months does not exceed EUR 1,028.70 (gross) will also be able to travel free of charge. Previously, the limit was EUR 968.40 (taking into account data from the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) on the average wage in 2019).

It is known that the most frequently used benefit of the Rēzekne Resident’s Card is free travel on the city’s public transport. This benefit is available to various groups of residents whose place of residence is declared within the administrative territory of Rēzekne. One of these groups consists of persons whose average monthly income over the past 12 months does not exceed 90% of the average monthly remuneration (gross) of employees working in the country in the previous year, as published in the CSB’s official statistical announcement.

According to CSB data, in 2020 the average monthly gross remuneration for full-time work in the country was EUR 1,143. Thus, 90% of the average wage is EUR 1,028.70, and a wider range of Rēzekne residents will be able to use public transport free of charge.

The Rēzekne City Council’s Resident Services Centre draws attention to the fact that residents who already use public transport free of charge do not need to submit any documents again.
