Tickets for a journey on “Rīgas satiksme” public transport can now be purchased with Mobilly

In response to the ever-growing demand among residents for electronic “Rīgas satiksme” transport tickets, single-journey tickets can now also be purchased through the Mobilly app. The new service is available from today on public transport vehicles operating on all routes and significantly simplifies everyday travel for passengers who use public transport irregularly and prefer cashless transactions.

To purchase a single-journey ticket, click the “Other” section in the Mobilly menu bar and select “Rīgas satiksme electronic ticket”. To activate the ticket, scan the QR code displayed inside the vehicle using the mobile app. After the ticket is activated, a unique QR code is generated; it can be found in the list of active tickets and shown to an inspector when necessary. The ticket price remains unchanged—when purchased through Mobilly, the ticket also costs €1.15.

Mobilly CEO Ģirts Slaviņš emphasises that this is a long-awaited solution that will finally make it convenient to purchase tickets for public transport in the capital as well: “The new solution is an obvious step towards ensuring convenient ticket payments and making use of the opportunities provided by modern technology. We are doing everything possible to make other types of tickets available in the Mobilly app soon as well.”

Until now, a single ticket purchased from the vehicle driver cost €2, and payment could only be made in cash. Electronic ticket machines, meanwhile, were available only on the new low-floor trams, while advance-purchase tickets, or e-tickets, were available at specific points of sale. This often made it difficult for passengers to purchase a ticket in time for unplanned journeys. The newly introduced Mobilly app function therefore makes public transport services even more accessible and convenient for the capital’s residents and visitors.
