A Sweet Surprise from Beekeepers for First-Graders During the Christmas Season

The Latvian Beekeepers’ Association has joined the large-scale “European Honey Breakfast” campaign, preparing sweet, healthy and educational gifts for first-graders at general education schools. The beekeepers also arranged a pleasant surprise—a small packet of honey—for the first-graders at both schools in Nereta Municipality.

During Advent, the first-grade children at Mazzalve Primary School and Nereta Jānis Jaunsudrabiņš Secondary School received a gift package. When they opened it, they found a letter filled with kind wishes and small packets of honey, which is certainly one of Latvia’s most characteristic flavours. Many children are familiar with honey because it is used in their families, but some know less about it. It was a lovely sweet surprise during the Christmas season.
