Winners of the April receipt lottery draw must apply to the SRS by 8 June
On Sunday, 9 May, as is customary, the winners of the cash prizes and additional prizes in the April draw of the receipt lottery organised by the State Revenue Service (SRS) were announced on the TV3 programme “SuperBingo”. Of the 1 017 870 receipts, invoices, tickets and bills paid online registered for the April receipt lottery draw, 39 traditional cash prizes and three cash prizes of 500 euros each were drawn as part of the sector-specific draw, as well as five additional prizes provided by participants in the SRS Advanced Cooperation Programme.
Lottery participants who have won one of the cash prizes for April or one of the additional prizes provided by participants in the Advanced Cooperation Programme must apply through the SRS Electronic Declaration System (EDS) within 30 days of the date on which the draw results were published—that is, by 8 June 2021 (inclusive). Those who received a text message stating that their receipt registered in April would be entered in the next draw, in 2022, must apply within 14 days, or by 23 May of this year (inclusive). If the winning document is an invoice, the lottery participant must submit to the EDS not only the invoice but also a bank payment statement confirming that the invoice has been paid.
For the first time, three cash prizes of 500 euros each were also awarded in the April draw specifically for supporting documents received in the special thematic sectors—namely, for land transport or vehicle repairs. This was also the first draw in which participants could enter not only receipts, invoices and tickets, but also invoices for purchases made online; 11 355 such invoices were registered for the lottery in April alone.
Receipts, invoices, tickets and bills paid online received in May of this year can be registered on the receipt lottery website, www.cekuloterija.lv, until 5 June. The sector-specific draw is also continuing, so in May and June we invite residents to pay particular attention to whether a supporting document is issued after receiving goods or services such as car repairs, annual maintenance or the purchase of spare parts, or a journey by taxi or another carrier.
By registering these supporting documents in the receipt lottery, participants will also have the chance in May and June to win three cash prizes worth 500 euros each, as well as various valuable and useful additional prizes provided by participants in the SRS Advanced Cooperation Programme. As usual, the results of the May receipt lottery draw will be announced on the second Sunday of June, 13 June.
Since, in addition to the regular draws, sector-specific draws have also been held every month since April, the distribution of prizes has changed as well. Going forward, lottery participants will have the chance each month to compete for 35 cash prizes worth 100 euros each, three prizes worth 5 000 euros each and one prize of 10 000 euros, while three cash prizes worth 500 euros each will be drawn every month only among sector-specific receipts. The total fund for the lottery’s cash prizes remains unchanged—30 000 euros in the monthly draw and 70 000 euros in the annual draw. In the future, not only cash prizes but also various valuable prizes provided by participants in the Advanced Cooperation Programme will continue to be drawn every month.

The aim of the receipt lottery is to promote fair competition and the voluntary fulfilment of tax obligations by encouraging consumers to request receipts and invoices for goods purchased and services received, thereby promoting a change in culture within society. The receipt lottery is being held in Latvia for the first time, but it is a fairly widespread practice elsewhere in the world, producing positive results both in terms of changing public behaviour and increasing revenue in the state budget. The receipt lottery is organised by the SRS and supported informationally by the state joint-stock company “Latvijas Loto”.
