The treatment of COVID-19 patients will henceforth be provided at clinical university and regional hospitals

As the overall incidence of COVID-19 continues to decline, including the number of patients requiring hospital treatment for the disease, from 21 June the treatment of COVID-19 patients will be concentrated in clinical university and regional hospitals. The other hospitals involved in the treatment of COVID-19 patients to date will continue to remain prepared to provide treatment to COVID-19 patients if necessary.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the State Operational Medical Commission (VOMK). At the same time, it was decided that, if the epidemiological situation deteriorates rapidly, Level II and Level III hospitals are prepared to begin admitting and treating COVID-19 patients within two days by repurposing beds.

The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 decreased by a further 28% over the past week, reaching an average of around 20 people per day, while an average of approximately 260 patients are treated in hospital each day.

To reduce the spread of COVID-19 even more rapidly and prevent the risks of a sharp increase in incidence in the autumn, the Ministry of Health and specialists urge everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

It has previously been reported that, when the country was experiencing a very high incidence of COVID-19, these patients were treated in special wards at all multi-profile emergency medical assistance hospitals.
