Cūkmen’s Wood Lovers’ Workshops: on 26 July, Cūkmens began his tour of Latvia

Cūkmens, whom many know for his famous phrase “Don’t litter in the forest, or you’ll turn into a pig,” began the nationwide tour of Cūkmen’s Wood Lovers’ Workshops with an event in Jelgava on 26 July. During the tour, Cūkmens will present Latvia’s cities with a wood manifesto and educate the public about wood as the best material for everyday use and construction.

During the tour, the popular friend of the forest will visit a total of five cities, where young and old wood lovers will be able to learn about wood and its beneficial properties through various activities. At Cūkmens’ Wood Lovers’ Workshop, participants will be able to make wooden toys, watch the animated short film Wood – a Healthy Material, and take part in other activities. Children up to the age of 10 will be invited to enter the drawing competition Draw a Wooden Cūkmens. In spring, one of the works will be turned into a real wooden sculpture of Cūkmens, which will be exhibited at the Latvian State Forests Nature Park in Tērvete.

Cūkmens launched his tour in Jelgava, arriving at the event in the Cūkmobile, with which he delighted everyone present. Cūkmens not only gave autographs and chatted with Jelgava residents young and old, but had also prepared a special gift for Jelgava – a wood manifesto, which he presented to Rita Vectirāne, Deputy Chairwoman of the Jelgava City Council.

On Saturday, 30 July, from 10:00 to 18:00, Cūkmens’ Wood Lovers’ Workshop will visit Rēzekne (on Raiņa Street), where Cūkmens will present the wood manifesto to Aleksandrs Bartaševičs, Chair of the Rēzekne City Council. As part of the tour, Latvia’s most popular friend of nature will visit three more cities – Valmiera on 13 August, Liepāja on 20 August, and will conclude his major summer journey on 26 August in Riga, at the Lucavsala Leisure Park.
