Daugavpils Red Cross campaign: coronavirus healthcare workers received gifts

For an entire month, as part of the “Let Us Give the Joy and Warmth of Spring!” campaign, the Daugavpils Committee of the Latvian Red Cross collected donations and gifts for the residents of the Family Support Centre/shelter and group apartments (26 Šaurā Street), and especially for the staff of the Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis Centre at Daugavpils Regional Hospital, who have been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 for many months. The campaign was also dedicated to the centenary of the LRC Daugavpils Committee.

The residents of 26 Šaurā Street received various household items, clothing and food, while an entire van of fresh fruit, coffee and healthy tea was collected for the DRS Pulmonary Centre, along with delicious gifts delivered by the company AS "Latvijas maiznieks". Kindergarten children conveyed their best wishes, while the Latvian Red Cross presented the healthcare workers with a certificate of appreciation for their selfless work.

The campaign was supported both by members of the Latvian Red Cross Daugavpils Committee (there are currently almost 1,000 of them) and by caring city residents. Through these gifts, the Red Cross expresses its gratitude to the doctors who spare no effort in the difficult struggle, many of whom have themselves recovered from this infectious disease.

The campaign is almost over, but the Red Cross reminds everyone that donations (in the form of material goods, money transfers or various kinds of assistance) can be made every day. To do so, you can contact the Red Cross Committee by telephone (65457357, 26364032, 27088270), by email at lsk.daugavpils@redcross.lv or via social media. Updates from the Red Cross can also be followed on its official Facebook page.
