Edīte Pauls-Vīgnere’s “Coronets” exhibition will be on display at Bauska Castle Museum from 10 June to 31 July, featuring a unique collection of handmade headdresses. It will be complemented by Valdis Ošiņš’s magnificent photographs, allowing visitors to appreciate the golden threads of the coronets, the delicacy of the glass beads and the nuances of the fabric textures. A meeting with the artist will take place on 10 June at 5:00 p.m.
Edīte Pauls-Vīgnere is a Latvian textile artist. Her works have earned the appreciation of both specialists and viewers, as well as high professional acclaim, since 1967, when the artist’s works first began appearing in exhibitions. She has participated in international exhibitions and symposiums; her works have represented Latvia abroad at official exhibitions and received recognition (including 2nd place at the Applied Arts Quadriennale in Erfurt, Germany (1974), 2nd place at the International Triennial in Łódź, Poland (1975), the Grand Prix at the 5th Baltic Applied Arts Triennial in Tallinn, Estonia (1990), two diplomas at the International Textile Art Biennial “From Lausanne to Beijing” in Beijing, China (2002), and a diploma at the international textile art exhibition “The Right and Wrong Side” in Kaunas, Lithuania (2003), among others). The artist has held several major solo exhibitions abroad, where her works have aroused admiration and received high acclaim: in Moscow (Russia), Aalborg (Denmark), Tallinn (Estonia), Drammen (Norway), Prague (Czech Republic) and elsewhere.
