Elita Patmalniece's Solo Exhibition “Colorful Can Be Black and White”
Elita Patmalniece's solo exhibition “Colorful Can Be Black and White” will be on display at the Ojārs Vācietis Museum in Riga from May 4 to June 19.
“The brightness of creative personalities will make even black and white colorful and vice versa! The black and white attire of the artist's created characters and the vibrant color palettes are mythical yet contemporary, infused with energy. Women are often found in the motifs of the paintings, whose image is close to Elita Patmalniece's self-portrait. Fantastically created beloved characters include a monkey, a wing, a leopard, a snake, a swan, and other creatures, a crown. Patmalniece's art extends into the surreal landscape of the world, with the eye and heart of a compelling human serving as a metaphor defining humanism and empathy.
The panorama of the planet - the painting “Levitation” shows the protagonist of the artwork levitating over world metropolises, with the sacred Grass Snake rustling in her hair bun - this is artist Elita Patmalniece's vision of overcoming gravity and perceiving the world,” explains the exhibition curator Dace Micāne-Zālīte.
All interested individuals are cordially invited to view both the exhibition and the museum's exposition, while also learning more about the poet Ojārs Vācietis.
