Genetics Centre iVF Riga Opens a New Covid-19 Testing Site

In view of the current epidemiological situation and the steadily growing demand among the public, the Genetics Centre iVF Riga has opened a new Covid-19 testing site in Riga, at 1 Uriekstes Street. There, tests can be taken, by prior appointment and without a referral from a family doctor, either in person or by arranging a mobile visit.

“The Genetics Centre iVF Riga began Covid-19 testing at the same time as the other laboratories in Latvia, in March this year. Until now, however, we provided testing only to iVF Riga patients and employees, in order to ensure the safety of procedures taking place at the clinic. In response to the growing demand from other members of the public as well, we decided to make the service publicly available. It is important to note that we do not perform rapid tests and, since we have our own accredited laboratory, we are able to provide the results of the standard test within 24 hours of the samples being submitted. This is very important when a person needs to visit someone in hospital or requires a test for work-related purposes. With the new testing site, we hope to help the public and ease the situation in the country,” says Violeta Fodina, Director of iVF Riga.

The testing site is registered with the Health Inspectorate and has already begun operating. Samples are collected according to a pre-established schedule, in compliance with the safety requirements set by the state. Samples can also be collected during a mobile visit, with a specialist travelling to the person’s home or workplace if testing is required for a group.
