Registration Open for Ant-Themed Classes Organised by Dabas māja

On Wednesday, 7 April, Dabas māja of the Liepāja City Education Department’s Science and Education Innovation Centre (ZIIC) is accepting registrations for free online classes about ants.

Educational institutions throughout Latvia. Classes are conducted using the ZOOM online platform.

Dabas māja offers online classes for children and pupils in two age groups:

- “Ant Explorer” for preschool groups (ages 5–6) and Year 1 pupils. Duration: 20 minutes. Classes can be booked on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30–9:50, 10:10–10:30, 10:50–11:10 and 11:30–11:50.

- “Ant Explorer” for Year 2–4 pupils. Duration: 40 minutes. Classes can be booked on Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:20–10:00, 10:10–10:50, 11:20–12:00 and 12:10–12:50.

The class is divided into two groups during the classes—two time slots must be reserved for one full class (30 children). Classes for Year 2–4 pupils will begin on 14 April, while classes for preschool groups and Year 1 pupils will begin on 15 April.

To register for a class:

send a registration email to dabasmaja@liepaja.edu.lv;

the email must specify the educational institution, class or group name, number of children, teacher, teacher’s telephone number and the email address to which we can send the ZOOM access link;

a ZIIC representative will contact each teacher individually by calling the contact telephone number provided in the email to confirm the class registration;

if the educational institution does not have the technical equipment required to participate in the online class (a microphone and/or camera), please inform the ZIIC representative in advance by email or telephone.

The classes are conducted as part of the project “Development of the Innovation Centre in the City of Liepāja”, funded by the EEA/Norway Grants programme “Research and Education”. Its total cost is EUR 986,049.00, of which EUR 754,327.40 is co-financing from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, EUR 133,116.60 is co-financing from the Latvian state budget, and EUR 98,605.00 is co-financing from the Liepāja City Municipality.
