Interactive Activity for Children: The Sculpture Forest
This activity for children of primary and elementary school age combines an educational walk through the exhibition with a creative activity, exploring the history of culture and art through ancient and Renaissance sculptures.
The inhabitants of the “Sculpture Forest” exhibition have countless stories—serious and playful, tender and also somewhat harsh. The museum educator will reveal some of them, inviting you to listen and imagine. Through these stories, we will try to understand how many of the “forest inhabitants” actually know one another and what events connect them. Once we have explored the “Sculpture Forest,” listened to the melodious birdsong, and reflected on the questions that have arisen, we will go to the activity room, where you will have the opportunity to create your own work.
The event is part of “Greek Days,” organised by the Latvian National Museum of Art in cooperation with the Embassy of Greece in Latvia and lecturers from the University of Latvia to mark Greek Independence Day, celebrated on 25 March. The three-day series of events will take place at the Museum Repository (8 Pulka Street, Riga), in the exhibition “Sculpture Forest” of casts of ancient and Renaissance sculptures.
