ONLINE STORE “XNET” DONATES 10,000 FACE MASKS TO MĀRUPE MUNICIPALITY

As increasingly new requirements for the mandatory use of face masks in educational institutions come into force, the online store “Xnet” is donating 10,000 disposable masks to Mārupe Municipality, one of the areas in Latvia most affected by COVID-19. The shipment was delivered to Mārupe Municipal Council today, 4 December.
“Mārupe Municipality is currently on the list of populated areas where stricter safety requirements have been introduced due to the spread of COVID-19. At present, the greatest challenge is organising the work and educational process in educational institutions, including kindergartens; therefore, we appreciate the “Xnet” online store’s initiative to support the educational institutions in our municipality. At this time, we all need to act responsibly, taking care of ourselves and those around us,” says Kristaps Ločs, Executive Director of Mārupe Municipal Council.
“Already during the first state of emergency, we observed high demand for face masks, so we prepared for the second wave in good time by replenishing our warehouse with masks to help our customers feel safe. At the same time, we want to support people in professions who continue to perform their duties either fully or partially in person. Observing the rapid spread of COVID-19 among pupils and teachers, we reacted quickly to deliver 10,000 face masks to the educational institutions of Mārupe Municipality, including kindergartens. We hope that our contribution will ensure safer in-person learning for teachers and pupils and help reduce the spread of the virus in educational institutions,” says Edgars Ejubs, head of “Xnet”.
As of 3 December 2020, new COVID-19 restrictions have come into force in Latvia, also affecting educational institutions. The requirements stipulate that kindergarten employees must wear face masks at all times, while teachers and pupils must use protective equipment both during in-person classes and breaks. When organising in-person learning for pupils in Grades 1 to 4, data from the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC) show that, in most cases of COVID-19 infection at schools, the infections are linked to teachers who have infected pupils.
“Xnet”’s donation to educational institutions consists of 10,000 disposable three-layer medical face masks with CE safety marking. The bacterial filtration efficiency of these masks is ≥ 98%. Customers can currently purchase several sets containing 10, 50 or 100 face masks. As is well known, the purpose of a mask is to protect both oneself and others from droplets released when sneezing or coughing. This prevents droplets from entering the respiratory tract. At the same time, “Xnet” also offers other personal protective equipment, such as hand disinfectants and antibacterial wipes.
