An exhibition by the artist Aija Mūrniece is on display at Durbes Castle, featuring works revolving around the theme of the four seasons.
Aija Mūrniece graduated from the Applied Decorative Arts Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts (1963–1969) and worked in the Artistic Laboratory of the Riga Porcelain Factory. She created dozens of design solutions found on almost all coffee, tea, and dinner services produced at that time.
Her life events are documented in diaries and captured in numerous drawings; in her later years, she turned to creating decorative tapestries.
