A project to motivate young people will be implemented in Preiļi Municipality!

At the regular council meeting on 30 April, councillors supported the municipality’s participation in the project “PROTI un DARI!” implemented by the Agency for International Programs for Youth (JSPA) under the European Union Funds 2014–2020 programming period operational programme “Growth and Employment”, specific support objective 8.3.3, “Develop the skills of NEET young people not registered with the State Employment Agency and promote their participation in education, measures implemented by the State Employment Agency within the framework of the Youth Guarantee, and activities of non-governmental organisations or youth centres”.

The project aims to motivate, profile and activate young people aged 15 to 29 who are not in education, employment or training—NEET young people.

Santa Ancāne, head of the Preiļi Municipality Youth Centre “Četri”, informed that 39 young people are planned to be involved in Preiļi Municipality. This is the quota of young people to be involved in the project, established in advance for all Latvian municipalities to ensure equal access to the available funding.

Municipalities, as cooperation partners, play an important role in implementing the project, as they will ensure the involvement of a programme content manager and mentor, as well as activities to reach and address young people in the target group. They will also ensure the profiling of young people in the target group and the development of individual activity programmes, involving the municipality’s strategic partners, and will provide information activities.

The municipality’s planned strategic partners in Preiļi Municipality will be the Preiļi Municipality Youth Centre “Četri”, the youth association “Preiļi Alternative Culture Support Centre” (PAKAC), the Preiļi Municipality Social Service and the Social Service Day Centre.

During the “PROTI un DARI!” project, young people will participate in various non-formal education and other activities, vocational training, and Youth Guarantee measures implemented by the State Employment Agency and the State Education Development Agency, as well as by non-governmental organisations and youth centres.

The recipient of the project funding is JSPA, which implements the project in cooperation with municipalities or associations of municipalities that involve the municipalities’ strategic partners in implementing the project.
