Postal services in Sunākste, Jaunjelgava Municipality, adapted to actual demand

Given the extremely low demand for postal services at the Sunākste post office—only eight postal items on average per day, resulting in annual losses of almost €4,000 for Latvijas Pasts—the post office’s operating model and opening hours are being changed. However, all necessary postal services will continue to be conveniently available to residents. 

As before, all postal services, as well as other services provided by Latvijas Pasts, will be available at the Sunākste postal service point: the receipt and sending of ordinary and registered domestic and cross-border letter mail, the receipt and sending of domestic and cross-border parcels, the purchase of stamps and envelopes, subscription to press publications, deposits into a Postal Payment System (PNS) account, payment of money transfers, payment of utility and other bills, and the purchase of commercial goods at retail. 

Residents of any region already have extensive opportunities to receive the necessary postal services from the postman directly at their place of residence. At the customer’s place of residence, the postman provides for the sending of postcards and letters, the purchase of stamps and envelopes, arrangements for the delivery of items to the home, subscription to press publications, receipt of money transfers and pensions, payment of utility and other bills, deposits into a PNS account, and other services. 

Sunākste residents can also receive cash withdrawals from their PNS account through the postman. This service can be requested by calling 27892759, 67008001 or 27008001. Residents of Sunākste can request the other postman services at their place of residence by calling 23281619. 

Upon receiving a notification to collect a registered item, residents may request its free collection at the Sunākste postal service point by calling 651 29326 or 27891942 in advance and specifying the date on which they wish to receive the item. Alternatively, when visiting the Sece post office in the premises of the pharmacy, items can be collected without prior application every working day from 8:30 to 13:00 and on Saturdays from 9:00 to 13:00 

The number and location of postal service points are determined by the decision of the Public Utilities Commission Council On the Obligations of the Universal Postal Service, which stipulates that Latvijas Pasts must have at least one postal service point in the territorial unit of each municipality. 

Sunākste residents are being informed by means of special notices in their mailboxes about the options for receiving postal services after 27 February 2019.
