"Young Road Users’ Forum 2015"
On 10 April, the nationwide marathon of the CSDD’s annual competition for young and aspiring cyclists, “Young Road Users’ Forum 2015”, began. On Thursday, 23 April, the competition will take place in Jēkabpils, on the premises of the CSDD Jēkabpils branch. School teams from Aknīste, Sala, Jēkabpils, Viesīte and Krustpils municipalities, as well as the city of Jēkabpils, are invited to participate.
For the 22nd year, the CSDD has organised a special competition for Latvian schoolchildren, aimed at improving their knowledge and skills in road safety. All participants will have to demonstrate their theoretical and practical knowledge of the road traffic regulations, know how to provide first aid, understand the technical construction of a bicycle, and complete various practical cycling tasks.
As usual, the competition will take place in three rounds. The first round, consisting of 32 events in total, will be held in various regions of Latvia from 10 April to 27 May. The next competitions are scheduled as follows:
Friday, 24 April, at 11:00 a.m., at the Aizkraukle Sports Hall; educational institutions from the municipalities of Nereta, Jaunjelgava, Pļaviņas, Koknese, Aizkraukle and Skrīveri are invited to participate.
Saturday, 25 April, at 11:00 a.m., at the CSDD Daugavpils branch; school teams from Daugavpils and Ilūkste municipalities, as well as the city of Daugavpils, are invited to participate;
Tuesday, 28 April, at 11:00 a.m., at Krāslava Varavīksne Basic School; school teams from the municipalities of Krāslava and Dagda are invited to participate;
Wednesday, 29 April, at 11:00 a.m., at the Preiļi Municipality Children’s and Youth Sports School; schools from the municipalities of Aglona, Riebiņi, Līvāni, Preiļi and Vārkava will participate.
The second round of the “Young Road Users’ Forum 2015” competition—the Latvian final—is scheduled for 5–6 June. Teams that receive the highest scores in the first-round competitions in their respective regions and consist of three boys and three girls will participate. The third round, the European Young Road Users’ Competition, will take place in Vienna, Austria, from 3–6 September. The winning team of the Latvian final will participate and compete for the title of the best team in Europe.
To participate in the competition, students must have been born in 2003–2005, form a team of six people—three girls and three boys—come up with a team name, and complete the electronic registration form on the website http://www.berniem.csdd.lv/index.php/satiksmes-drosiba/reg/konkursi. The team’s participation in the competition must be agreed with a teacher or another adult, and participants must bring a signed school confirmation of the specific.To participate in the competition, students must have been born in 2003–2005, form a team of six people—three girls and three boys—come up with a team name, and complete the electronic registration form on the website http://www.berniem.csdd.lv/index.php/satiksmes-drosiba/reg/konkursi. The forum is organised by the CSDD. In developing the competition content, the CSDD cooperates with the National Centre for Education, which has been the CSDD’s educational-project partner for many years. The competition is organised by the association “For a Strong Latvia”; it is financed from MTPL insurance funds and supported by the Latvian Automobile Association.
