Jelgava to Have a “Sadales tīkls” Dispatch Centre
AS “Sadales tīkls” is implementing an efficiency improvement programme, during which several of the company’s dispatch centres will also be optimised. This year, the Western, or Liepāja, and Southern, or Jelgava, dispatch centres are scheduled to be merged, creating a unified Western dispatch division in our city.
The efficiency improvement programme was launched in 2017 and will continue until 2022. As part of the optimisation process, 480 positions have already been eliminated (out of the planned 810), 25 regional bases have been closed, and the number of vehicles required for operations has been reduced to 160. Given that the electricity network can be monitored and controlled from anywhere in Latvia, the company will also begin optimising its dispatch centres this year.
While AS “Sadales tīkls” currently has seven dispatch centres in Latvia, there will be only three in 2021. The project will be implemented in three stages, the first of which is expected at the end of this year, when the Western and Southern dispatch centres will be merged.
This decision was made with the aim of improving the company’s operational efficiency and enhancing work organisation. The merger of the dispatch centres will enable the company to reduce the costs required for renting and maintaining premises, as well as optimise staff numbers, since, owing to the reduction in the number of faults and the digitalisation of the electricity network, dispatchers’ workload is gradually decreasing and a number of tasks are being performed by the system. The unified Western dispatch division will be located in Jelgava, at 10 Elektrības Street, where the Southern dispatch centre is currently located.
It is important to emphasise that the planned changes will not affect the quality or security of the company’s customers’ electricity supply, as the electricity network can be controlled remotely by the company’s staff from anywhere in Latvia.
