Jelgava Regional Tourism Centre Offers Orienteering Games about Jelgava

The Jelgava Regional Tourism Centre (JRTC), as part of the celebrations of Jelgava City Festival, invites everyone to take part in orienteering games. The first game, "Jelgava Personalities and Events", will start on 26 April.

Anyone who enjoys walking and history can take part in the orienteering game, visit the locations included in the activity and learn about important figures in Jelgava's history and present day—artists, presidents, musicians, as well as personalities from the era of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. The first game, "Jelgava Personalities and Events", will take place from 26 April to 16 May.

To take part in the activity, participants must answer questions while walking the routes marked on the worksheet. Worksheets can be obtained by registering to participate in the orienteering game by email at tic@tornis.jelgava.lv, while completed worksheets must be sent back to the JRTC. Participants in the orienteering game who answer the questions correctly will be eligible to receive prizes. The JRTC will contact the prize winners personally by email.

The route included in the game "Jelgava Personalities and Events" is approximately 6 kilometres long, is of easy difficulty, takes place within the city limits and is suitable for families with children. A second orienteering game is also planned; information about this activity will follow.

More information about the orienteering games and the rules is available on the Jelgava city and surrounding area tourism website, www.visit.jelgava.lv. When participating in the activities, participants are asked to observe the epidemiological safety regulations adopted in the country.
