Jelgava residents invited to help create a story about the city’s history

Jelgava is a city that is constantly changing and growing. The only thing that remains unchanged is its history, which has witnessed both the city’s development and irreparable devastation. Witnesses to this history include architectural monuments that have been preserved through the centuries, as well as modern urban environment solutions. Each of us surely has our own story about Jelgava, preserved in memories, notes and photographs.

We invite Jelgava residents – everyone who calls the city home – to share  their own memories, or those of their relatives or friends, captured in photographs of Jelgava during different periods.  It is possible that photographs available in  your personal archives could help create a shared story about the city’s streets, buildings, infrastructure and the changes Jelgava has experienced.

We look forward to receiving photographs and information about the author, the location (what was photographed, where and why), the year and date when the photograph was taken, as well as the person whose archive contains the photographs. Please send them by email to marketings@dome.jelgava.lv, either attaching them to the message or saving the photographs on a file-sharing website and including the link in the email.
