Jelgava residents will be able to hand in used tyres free of charge

SIA "Zemgales Eko", in cooperation with the waste management company SIA "R Recycling", is inviting residents on 15 May to dispose of their old tyres by handing them in for recycling free of charge. It is important to emphasise that only residents whose vehicles are registered in Jelgava city or Jelgava Municipality will be able to participate in the campaign.

According to the campaign organisers, tyres will be accepted at the SIA "Zemgales Eko" waste collection site at 6 Paula Leiņa Street, Jelgava, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Four passenger-car tyres, or one set of tyres, will be accepted free of charge from each vehicle, regardless of the number of passengers. Residents will have to present the vehicle registration certificate indicating the declared address of the vehicle owner or holder. Tyres will be accepted free of charge only from residents of Jelgava city or Jelgava Municipality.

To ensure residents’ safety, contactless tyre handover will be organised at the site. Only one vehicle at a time will be allowed to enter the premises, and residents are asked to observe a distance of at least two metres from one another.

It should be noted that in Jelgava, four tyres may be handed in free of charge only on 15 May. At other times, they are accepted at separate waste collection sites for a fee depending on the tyre diameter; the fee for handing in one tyre may range from €1.90 to €2.70.
