What products can be found in food packages for Liepāja schoolchildren
“The packages are truly valuable. I think it was not easy, because three factors had to be taken into account: a healthy product, one that can be stored for a long time, and one that is not too expensive, since a specific price had to be kept within. I am also pleased that most of the products included in the packages are made in Latvia, thereby supporting local producers, which is important at this time,” commented Gaļina Skorobogatova, principal of Liepāja Primary School No. 3, on the contents of the packages. The school had already received the food packages assembled by SIA “Viedaga” yesterday for distribution to its pupils.
The packages prepared by this company will also be delivered to Secondary Schools No. 5, 7 and 10, as well as to some of the pupils of Secondary School No. 15. The other pupils of this school and pupils of the city’s remaining schools will receive packages assembled by SIA “Zālītes A”.
The value of a food package is 31.40 euros for pupils in the upper grades for 20 school days and 17.20 euros for pupils in the lower grades for 10 school days. The cost includes the products, packaging and delivery, as well as VAT. The packages contain products that can be stored for a long time, such as buckwheat, breakfast cereals, butter, processed cheese, flour and other useful products. A total of 1,262 food packages will be delivered to Liepāja’s educational institutions.
A food package for one child for 20 school days (EUR 28.40 + EUR 3 packaging costs) contains:
- 2 kg of flour, 400 g of dry mix for thin pancakes,
- 1 kg of oat flakes,
- 1 kg of rice,
- 1 kg of buckwheat,
- 0.5 kg of whole-grain pasta,
- 0.5 kg of yellow split peas,
- 1 kg of sugar,
- 1 l of refined sunflower oil,
- 1 l of milk,
- 1 packet of butter,
- 1 box of processed cheese,
- 800 g of canned green peas,
- 2 packages of tea,
- 2 l of juice,
- 2 packages of breakfast cereal,
- 1 can of stewed pork,
- 1 can of stewed beef,
- 1 package of loose biscuits.
A food package for one child for 10 school days (EUR 14.20 + EUR 3 packaging costs) contains:
- 400 g of dry mix for thin pancakes,
- 1 kg of buckwheat,
- 0.5 kg of whole-grain pasta,
- 1 l of milk,
- 1 packet of butter,
- 1 box of processed cheese,
- 400 g of canned green peas,
- 1 l of juice,
- 1 package of breakfast cereal,
- 1 can of stewed beef,
- 0.5 kg of oranges.
