Krišjānis School
On February 11th at 12:00, Krišjānis Barons Museum (Riga, Krišjāņa Barona Street 3-5) invites young people aged 15-25 from Ukraine and Latvia to the ninth lesson of the event series 'Krišjānis School'. The aim of the event series is to help young people integrate into Latvian society and gain knowledge about important historical and cultural events in Latvia.
The lesson on February 11th will be dedicated to Latvian literary figures in the cultural canon, and participants will also learn about memorial museums in Latvia. After a coffee break, everyone will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion and share their story on the topic 'My School in Latvia'.
One of the ideas of the project was to introduce the values of the Latvian cultural canon. Many of these values are revealed at the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum, which celebrated its 100th anniversary on February 2nd, so the second part of the lesson will take place at the open-air museum. Ukrainian translation will be provided by a student from Riga Stradiņš University, and the volunteer Ivan Meščans from the K. Barons Museum.
Local young people living in Riga are also invited to the event series to share their experiences with their Ukrainian peers and get acquainted with Ukrainian and Latvian culture.
Please register for participation by writing to the email barons@memorialiemuzeji.lv
The project is funded by the European Union within the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund.
