KULDĪGA MUNICIPALITY TO HOLD THE ANNUAL “CHRISTMAS IN KULDĪGA MUNICIPALITY” COMPETITION

To promote a festive Christmas atmosphere in the city and municipality of Kuldīga, as well as to identify the owners or managers of the most original shop windows, premises, building façades, courtyards and front yards, and the owners of handmade Christmas decorations, the Kuldīga Municipality administration will once again hold the “Christmas in Kuldīga Municipality” competition this year.

Applications for the competition will be accepted until 20 December. Individuals and legal entities, as well as state and municipal institutions, may submit applications by indicating the address of the nominated site, the name of the shop or company (and the name and surname of the decorator (artist)), and briefly explaining why the applicant is nominating this particular site for the competition.

Application forms will be available at the municipality’s Visitor Reception Centre at 1 Baznīcas Street, Kuldīga, and at the premises of the parish administrations. The application form can also be completed on the website WWW.KULDIGA.LV , and candidates may also be nominated by calling 27020754.

The competition will separately assess shop windows, building façades and front yards, farmsteads or private houses in villages, the most original decorations, and handmade ornaments. The judging panel will take into account the location of the particular site, its decorations, composition and colour, form, the suitability of the materials used to the surrounding environment and the building’s architecture, as well as the originality of the idea.

The winners of first place in each category will receive a cash prize of EUR 75 and a certificate of recognition, while the other participants will receive certificates of recognition and surprise prizes.
