Next week, on 15 December, the first Latvian restaurant of the world-famous Vapiano restaurant chain will open its doors at the recently renovated Origo shopping centre, offering visitors meals inspired by traditional Italian cuisine and a premium customer service experience. Following the successful expansion of its business in the Baltics, the Vapiano restaurant chain is now also coming to Latvia under the leadership of the Estonian company Apollo Group. At present, visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of freshly prepared takeaway dishes, while the opening of the new restaurant for dine-in guests is planned for the beginning of next year, allowing them to fully experience Vapiano’s unique concept and enjoy hearty meals with family and friends.

The first Vapiano restaurant of the German restaurant chain was opened in Hamburg 18 years ago, while today Vapiano restaurants are located on five continents and in 33 countries. The total number of restaurants worldwide exceeds 200, while there are currently seven Vapiano restaurants in the Baltic states and Finland—three in Tallinn, one each in Tartu and Vilnius, and two in Helsinki. Moreover, as the brand continues its rapid development in the Baltic region, the opening of two more new restaurants in Lithuania is planned for next year, as well as the opening of a second restaurant in Riga, scheduled for the spring season.

Vapiano will begin operations in Latvia with a 517 m2 restaurant spread across two floors. The first floor will feature a small lounge area, a bar and a counter with ready-made takeaway dishes, while the second floor will house an open kitchen and tables with 160 seats. The restaurant’s menu includes such widely popular Italian dishes as various types of pasta, pizzas and traditional antipasti, as well as salads and desserts freshly prepared on site at the restaurant using the highest-quality ingredients and customisable according to each visitor’s preferences. The meals will also be complemented by fresh herbs—basil, rosemary and rocket—as well as homemade sauces that give the dishes an especially enticing flavour and aroma.

The Vapiano concept is based on everyday meals with an authentic, accessible Italian identity, accompanied by a fitting atmosphere. Vapiano restaurant interiors are traditionally characterised by a long counter, exposed concrete floors, long oak tables, basket lamps and Italian tile decorations, while the newest restaurants also feature green walls made from real plants. Importantly, all dishes are prepared in an open kitchen located in the centre of the dining area, in full view of guests.

“Vapiano is the ideal place both for a quick lunch and an afternoon break, as well as for a leisurely dinner with those closest to you. The long tables immediately invite guests to communicate with friends, family or other visitors while enjoying excellent food—just as Italians themselves do every day. Meanwhile, the same dishes are available for convenient takeaway for visitors in a hurry. Around the world, Vapiano is a place where people come together to share their joy of life and love of high-quality Italian cuisine,” says Amanda Žuhovska, manager of the new Vapiano restaurant in Latvia.Amanda Žuhovska.

The Vapiano restaurant franchise owner in the Baltic states and Finland is the Estonian entertainment services company Apollo Group, which also owns KFC restaurants, Apollo cinemas, O’Learys entertainment centres, Blender juice bars, IceCafe ice cream shops, and the film distribution company Baltic Film Distribution.
