On Friday, 23 July, the Cabinet of Ministers issued an order on providing support to Lithuania in connection with the state of emergency caused by the influx of migrants.

Latvia will send three tents from the state's material reserves as humanitarian aid (two modular tents and one large tent), three generators (9, 12 and 20 kW), five lighting kits with additional equipment, as well as 3,000 blankets. The shipment to Lithuania will be delivered by the State Fire and Rescue Service.

"The government's decision to support the neighbouring country is very important, because the greatest strength lies precisely in the unity of the Baltic states. It is unacceptable that the regime ruling Belarus is using hybrid warfare methods to put pressure on the Lithuanian government," noted Interior Minister Marija Golubeva.

The additional funding allocated to replenish the state's material reserves used in providing humanitarian aid amounts to EUR 123,900.

It has already been reported that the number of migrants who have crossed the Belarus–Lithuania border has increased dramatically. As of 22 July, the number of migrants had reached 2,430.
