The New PlayStation 5 Console Officially Launches in Latvia and Elsewhere Around the World
The future of video games begins today as Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) unveils its long-awaited next-generation gaming console, which has been officially available in Latvia, Europe and elsewhere around the world since 19 November. The new PlayStation 5 offers incredible speed, unprecedented power, revolutionary technology, a futuristic design and a wide range of video games for every taste, including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, NBA 2K21 and a host of other cult games.
The PS5 console is available in two models: a digital edition without a disc drive and a version with an Ultra HD Blu-ray optical disc drive. Both models offer identical technical specifications, allowing players to enjoy the same gaming experiences regardless of which PS5 version they choose. The only visual difference is the shape of the two consoles: the disc version has a slight side protrusion, while the digital edition features perfect visual symmetry. The PS5 package also includes the innovative DualSense wireless controller, PULSE 3D wireless headset and HD camera.
“Today, the PlayStation brand marks a historic moment, and we are incredibly excited to celebrate the launch of the new PlayStation 5 console together with our community of fans, game developers and industry partners around the world,” says Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “PS5 truly is a next-generation console that represents the beginning of a new era in video games. I am also thrilled about the new games that players will be able to discover not only today, but also over the coming months and years.”
The developers claim that PS5 will surprise players with unprecedented speed and visual precision, offering almost instant loading times thanks to the PS5’s high-speed solid-state drive (SSD), as well as breathtaking 4K graphics at up to 120 frames per second. With enhanced haptic feedback and adapted motion sensors in the DualSense controller, along with immersive soundscapes powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech technology, PlayStation 5 heightens players’ sensations by presenting an even more impressive gaming world than ever before.
The PlayStation 5 game lineup represents the finest selection of cult games in the console’s history, beginning with titles such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Astro’s Playroom, which are already available on the PS5 platform. In addition, more than three dozen new games will join them by the end of the year, including highly anticipated titles from partner publishers such as Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War (Activision), Fortnite (Epic Games), FIFA 21 (EA), NBA 2K21 (2K), Godfall (Gearbox Publishing), Watch Dogs®: Legion and Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla (Ubisoft). Soon, these cult games will also be joined by the impressive Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, Destruction AllStars, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo™ 7, as well as the new God of War and many other fan-favourite games in an unprecedented form.
