Due to high demand, birdhouse kits will be distributed again!

On 10 April, birdhouse construction kits were given to each household in the Children's Town and at the Fantāzija Children's Park. However, residents’ response was so great that all the prepared birdhouse kits were distributed within less than 30 minutes, reports Ventspils municipal institution “Komunālā pārvalde”.

As a way of caring for our small feathered friends, 65 birdhouse kits were distributed to each household in the Children's Town, while 35 kits were distributed at the Fantāzija Children's Park. The residents’ response was unexpectedly great: during previous birdhouse-building events, approximately 60–70 birdhouses were made in three hours, whereas today all 100 birdhouse kits were distributed within less than 30 minutes.

To give families who did not manage to receive their construction kit on 10 April the opportunity to make birdhouses, they will be distributed again on Saturday, 17 April, from 11:00 to 13:00, both in the Children's Town and at the Fantāzija Children's Park! Residents who wish to install their completed birdhouses in the city’s squares, parks, forests or along the nature trail at Lake Būšnieki can hand them over to Komunālā pārvalde on working days by registering in advance. The city’s small feathered friends lack natural nesting sites—tree hollows—so a properly made and installed birdhouse is a valuable gift to nature.
