Residents of Limbaži, Tukums and Liepāja to Receive Consultations on Justice System Services in the E-Environment
To promote access to justice system services, starting Monday, 23 May, residents of Limbaži, Tukums and Liepāja will receive in-person consultations on the options for using them remotely in the electronic environment. The Ministry of Justice, in cooperation with the State Land Service, the Register of Enterprises, the Legal Aid Administration, the Patent Office and the Latvian Language Agency, is implementing the pilot project “Justice System Services in Municipalities” with the aim of improving residents’ digital skills so that they can independently use the e-services provided by justice system institutions.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Jānis Bordāns: “Modern technologies are increasingly becoming part of our lives, and they can significantly facilitate the performance of everyday tasks for any resident, including through the use of services offered by the justice system. Therefore, we invite residents to actively use the opportunity offered by our pilot project to receive information about the e-services provided by the justice system and consultations on how to use them.”
Consultations under the pilot project are organised by prior appointment, by calling 25637421, at the following municipal locations and during the following reception hours:
- Limbaži Municipality (16 Rīgas Street, Limbaži): reception hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00.
- Tukums Municipality (4 Talsu Street, Tukums): reception hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00.
- Liepāja State City Municipality (6 Rožu Street, Liepāja): reception hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00.
As part of the pilot project, employees of justice institutions will also hold seminars for residents to provide information about the justice system’s online services, such as the opportunity to submit an application to an institution electronically; order documents held in the State Land Service archive or register a company; submit a trademark application; use the “Valodas draugs” app and other services.
The pilot project is being implemented within the framework of the Cabinet of Ministers’ declaration concerning the development of the one-stop-shop principle and the Service Environment Improvement Plan for 2020–2023, which envisages an overall drive to improve access to services.
After the pilot project ends, it is planned to assess the need to expand access to the services currently provided by justice system institutions at unified state and municipal customer service centres.
