The Learning Process in Liepāja General Education Schools from 30 November to 18 December
In view of the state of emergency in the country and the government’s decision to introduce stricter safety measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19, while recognising the importance of in-person learning and observing common principles wherever possible (ensuring 3 m2 of space per person), the Liepāja Education Department, in cooperation with the heads of educational institutions, has developed a solution for ensuring the learning process.
From 30 November to 18 December 2020:

Grades 7–12
- Students continue their studies remotely, as provided for by Model C.
In view of the above, the heads of educational institutions will contact parents and provide detailed information on how the learning process will be ensured at schools over the next three weeks in accordance with the selected model.
During the spread of COVID-19, an educational institution implements the learning process according to one of three models or combines two or more models simultaneously, depending on the circumstances at the particular educational institution.
Model A – in-person learning. An educational institution implements this model if it is possible to ensure the basic precautionary requirements.
Model B – a combined model, in which learning takes place both in person and remotely (in this case, 50% in person and 50% remotely). An educational institution implements this model when it is not possible to ensure the necessary precautionary measures for all students/pupils, including optimal occupancy of shared spaces and coordination of groups in accordance with the basic precautionary requirements.
Model C – all learning takes place remotely. Under Model C, students do not attend the educational institution’s premises; they study entirely remotely, either online with a teacher or by completing independent assignments individually or in cooperation with others, with the teacher’s purposeful and systematic support. This model may be applied to an individual student, a class, a group of classes or the entire educational institution.
