Exhibition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Margarita Stāraste
Margarita Stāraste (1914–2014) is a children's book author and illustrator. Her works are known to almost everyone, and the illustrations often speak more than words; they are heartfelt and moving, and always complement the text perfectly.
Margarita Stāraste has written and illustrated twenty books for children, and illustrated over forty books by other authors for children. Several animated films have been created based on the motifs of Margarita Stāraste's works, and their characters will be on display at the exhibition.
The writer has been awarded the Pastariņa Prize, the Order of the Three Stars of the Republic of Latvia, the lifetime prize of the book art competition 'Zelta ābele', the Infinity Copyright Award, and the Latvian Literature Annual Award for lifetime contribution to children's literature.
Children will have the opportunity to get to know the wonderful world created by Margarita Stāraste, while adults will be able to recall their acquaintance with the writer and illustrator's works.
The exhibition is open from February 9th to April 30th. Admission is free. The exhibition is organized by the Children's Literature Center of the National Library of Latvia in cooperation with the film studio 'Animācijas brigāde'.
