Opening of Marie Lein's Exhibition “Leisureliness”
On April 12th at 4:00 PM, the Rainis and Aspazija House at 30 Baznīcas Street in Riga will host the opening of the painting exhibition “Leisureliness” by artist Marie Lein, who was born in Latvia and currently resides in France.
Marie was born in 1998 in Latvia, but now lives and works in Paris, France. To date, several solo exhibitions by the young artist have been organized in both France and Latvia. M. Lein's work was first exhibited in 2013 when she participated in a children's drawing competition. She has been seriously engaged in painting since 2015 after attending a painting master class with French artist Viktoria Renaux.
Currently, Marie works a paid job at the Association of Disabled People, thus she dedicates her weekends to painting. Besides painting, music is also dear to Marie, as it helped her learn to speak. Marie also performs at her exhibitions.
Art expert Elizabeth Groce comments on Marie's new exhibition: “Marie's paintings are an art of leisure, requiring time to appreciate. Viewing the paintings raises many questions and forms various parallels. One can dive into both the art and oneself.”
Marie has participated in several young talent competitions in Paris, and her works have been frequently exhibited in different exhibitions. In January 2020, her works were showcased in a solo exhibition at Centre Paris Anim’ René Goscinny in Paris. Marie's paintings adorn the covers of “Dramaturgs Association” play collections and B. Zujāne's experience story “My Arithmetic Booklet” (2021).
“Leisureliness” will be Marie's third exhibition at the Rainis and Aspazija House, with her exhibitions also having been displayed elsewhere in Latvia, including the Latgale Cultural History Museum in Rēzekne. “We will meet here or elsewhere, but we will meet!” invites Marie Lein to the exhibition.
The exhibition at the Rainis and Aspazija House will be open from April 12th to June 14th.
