Nature in the City and the Spray of Venta Rapid
Kuldīga is a city situated in a wonderful location that offers many opportunities for hikes with beautiful views, an old town included on the UNESCO list, and much more. It is also possible to walk the Health Route here. It begins in Pārventa, on Krasta Street. From there, the trail winds through the old town, along the right bank of the Venta, past Venta Rapid, of course, and through Mārtiņsala. The trail is approximately 3 km long and is rated as easy, making it suitable for children and seniors as well. There are no difficult climbs or slippery paths— only country trails, gravel paths, wooden boardwalks, asphalt, and cobblestones.
Along the way, you can exercise not only by following the exercise programme included in this route, but also by using the health trail information boards placed in nature. As this is a health route, it includes ten exercises, which can be found on the Kuldīga website. During the warm season—or if anyone is tempted by colder waters— you can take a swim at Kuldīga's swimming area.
The Health Route passes through the ”Venta Valley” nature reserve, which was established as long ago as 1957 and has been included in the network of European protected natural areas of importance, ”Natura 2000”, since 2004.
Have a pleasant walk and enjoy positive emotions while observing the beautiful nature of Latvia and its remarkable cultural monuments.
