Osokins Freedom Festival
This year, the Osokins Freedom Festival will take place from May 7th to June 11th. The festival is organized by the pianist Andrejs Osokins. Just like last year, this year's festival will be dedicated to Ukraine and its people. Latvian and Ukrainian musicians, actors, and groups will come together, creating collaborations that highlight freedom, cooperation, and even friendship.
The festival will begin with introductory events such as lectures and masterclasses, followed by 8 concerts starting from May 20th:
May 20th - Opening concert at the Ziedonis Hall of the National Library of Latvia
May 27th - Andrejs Osokins and string quartet concert at the "Ola Foundation" cultural space
May 28th - Poetic concert by Gundars Abolins and Andrejs Osokins at the Melngalvju House
June 1st - Support concert for the animals affected by the war in Ukraine, titled "People, Cats, and Music," at the Anglican Church
June 2nd - Avant-garde night concert at the Anglican Church
June 4th - Katrīna Gupalo solo concert at the "Amoralle Level Up" cultural and fashion space
June 10th - Closing concert at the Wagner House
June 11th - Festival epilogue with a solo concert by Georgijs Osokins.
Among the artists, there will be actors Gundars Āboliņš, Dita Lūriņa, Larisa Semirozumenko, the string ensemble "Kremerata Baltica," pianist Georgijs Osokins, musicians Ralfs Eilands, Katrīna Gupalo, Žoržs Siksna, Roberto Meloni, Darja Leleko, and groups "Labvēlīgais Tips," "Shakima Trio," "Sub Scriptum." Also participating will be Nina Khanetska, a violinist from the Ukrainian Symphony Orchestra, mezzo-soprano Ieva Parša, pianist Iveta Cālīte, piano duet Roksana Tarvide and Kaspars Bumbišs, piano quartet "Quadra," composers Platons Buravickis and Annika Lanka, performance artist Darja Kalašņikova, and Andrejs Osokins himself, among others. They will present both familiar pieces and specially created concert programs for the festival, showcasing the skills of both Latvian and Ukrainian artists.
Tickets can be purchased at "Biļešu paradīze" box offices and online. The proceeds from ticket sales during the festival, in collaboration with "Biļešu paradīze" and the Ziedot.lv fund, will be donated to support Ukraine.
