Upstream - Downstream Expedition

Alekšupīte is a tributary of the left bank of the Venta River that flows through Kuldīga. Those interested have the opportunity to explore Alekšupīte's rocky bed during an expedition, approximately 1.5 hours long, passing through the town, crossing small waterfalls, crossing over small bridges, and viewing Kuldīga from a completely different perspective.

The expedition is led by an experienced guide who will share stories about the houses and where you can learn about both Alekšupīte's carnival and Alekšupīte's run.

Expedition participants are provided with rubber shoes in summer or rubber suits in cool weather, even when the river level is higher. Poles for support are offered to make it easier to move along the rocky bed.

Please note that before the expedition, a brief briefing on the course of the expedition will be given. Visitors need not worry about items they fear getting wet – they can store them in secure lockers.
