From 10 May 2021, residents will have access to state-funded psychological and psychotherapeutic assistance to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on mental health.
Psychological support consultations are available to patients with depression and certain diagnoses to address stress-related disorders, neurotic-spectrum disorders, and eating disorders.
Applying for a consultation
A referral for a consultation may be issued by a general practitioner or a psychiatrist (for children, a child psychiatrist), after assessing the patient’s complaints. When preparing the referral, the doctor will determine the required duration of therapy, up to 10 state-funded visits. In view of the risks caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, specialists can provide these consultations both in person and remotely, using one of the online platforms.
Specialists
State-funded psychological assistance consultations are provided by clinical and health psychologists, clinical and health psychologists with further training in psychotherapy, and medical psychotherapists who have concluded a contract with the National Health Service.
