"Pasažieru vilciens" app enhanced with the option to purchase e-tickets for season passes.

To purchase and use a season-pass e-ticket, the passenger must have the latest version of the "Pasažieru vilciens" mobile app downloaded on their smartphone. As with purchasing single-journey tickets, the passenger must select the route on which the season-pass e-ticket will be used and, in the menu, select the required ticket type—a day ticket or a season-pass ticket (valid for all days of the month or for working days of the month), in one or both directions. The purchaser must also specify the date on which use of the season-pass e-ticket is to begin. The season-pass e-ticket must be paid for by bank card; after successful payment, the e-ticket will be available in the app's "Tickets" section. When purchasing a season pass on www.pv.lv, a link for activating the e-season pass in the mobile app will be sent to the e-mail address specified by the passenger. The app must be installed on the smartphone on which the ticket will be used and presented to the conductor-inspector.

To protect against the possible counterfeiting of season-pass e-tickets, the new functionality incorporates several anti-counterfeiting algorithms. Among other things, the app will generate a new QR code each time an e-season pass is used, preventing the code from being photographed, copied or forwarded to another user.

In the future, purchasing a monthly ticket will no longer require a visit to one of our ticket offices; it can be done at any convenient place and time. We will certainly continue developing the range of services available digitally, introducing both the option of purchasing tickets electronically for train services with a fixed number of seats and working on other new ticket-purchasing solutions."

Purchasing a season-pass e-ticket is simple and convenient; its user will not be identified by name, and registration is not required to purchase an e-season pass. When purchasing an e-season pass, the only information that must be provided is the e-mail address of the ticket user. Please note that the season-pass e-ticket will be linked to a specific smart device.

No additional discount is currently granted when purchasing a day or season-pass ticket electronically. The existing policy for electronically purchased tickets remains in place: a 5% to 10% discount on single-journey e-tickets. Discounts on day and season-pass tickets, meanwhile, are up to 46%. Members of large families can purchase a season-pass e-ticket with an additional 40% discount.
