At the extraordinary meeting of the Preiļi Municipality Council on 6 March, the council members decided to submit an application for the project “Improving the Energy Efficiency of Public Area Lighting in Preiļi Municipality” to the fourth round of the open call for projects financed by the Climate Change Financial Instrument, “Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Lighting Infrastructure of Municipal Public Areas”, announced by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, setting the project’s total funding at EUR 204,414.92, including value added tax.

The aim of the open call for projects organised by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development under the Climate Change Financial Instrument is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the lighting infrastructure of municipal public areas by using technologies and environmentally friendly methods that make it possible to reduce current electricity consumption.

If the project receives support, new and energy-efficient lighting is planned to be installed in Preiļi on Raiņa Boulevard and Liepu and Kooperatīva Streets. The project’s total eligible costs amount to EUR 202,593.48. If the project is approved, the municipality will take out a loan from the Treasury to implement it.
