The annual “Tyres with a Heart” campaign concluded on 10 October. As part of the campaign, the company
Latakko and its partner, the Pirelli Key Point franchise network, donated a further EUR 10,803 to the Children’s Clinical
Hospital Foundation. It was previously reported that the donated funds would be used by the
hospital to purchase equipment for diagnosing and treating childhood illnesses: in 2017,
a circular phototherapy lamp was purchased, while a capnograph is planned for purchase in 2018.
Some of the equipment mentioned was previously unavailable in Latvia.
Donations will facilitate treatment and diagnosis for more than 1,100
newborns a year
“More than 1,100 newborns undergo examinations at the Neonatology Clinic every year,”
notes Liene Dambiņa, head of the Children’s Clinical Hospital Foundation. “Thanks to the
‘Tyres with a Heart’ campaign, one of the longest-running donation campaigns for the treatment
of childhood illnesses, it will be possible to avoid medical examinations abroad in several cases,
sparing Latvian families the time and money that are so precious,” she says.
A ceremony was held at the “Sunny Days Library”, during which a cheque for the specified amount
was presented to the Children’s Clinical Hospital Foundation. Representatives of the hospital
administration gave a presentation showing how donations from previous years had been spent.
Yevgeny Kopilkov, head of LATAKKO: “It is everyone’s responsibility to
help those around us, especially children.”
“We express our deepest gratitude to everyone who takes part in the programme: our valued
customers, who purchase tyres and donate EUR 1.50 with each purchase; our partners from
the Pirelli Key Point network; the doctors and specialists at the children’s hospital; as well as
the Latakko employees responsible for the organisational aspects of the ‘Tyres with a Heart’
programme,” says Yevgeny Kopilkov. “It is everyone’s responsibility to help those around us, especially
children. Next year, we have a unique opportunity to increase the total donation amount to as much
as EUR 100,000. We are committed to striving towards this goal, because together we can
achieve much more.”
