Notice of the public consultation meeting on the preparation of the nature protection plan for Ragakāpa Nature Park

SIA “Vides konsultāciju birojs” prepared the nature protection plan for Ragakāpa Nature Park for 2019–2031 in 2018. The purpose of the nature protection plan is to coordinate nature protection, the use of natural resources, regional development and the interests of residents while preserving the area’s natural values.

The nature protection plan contains scientific information about the protected area and establishes uniform management measures for the entire nature park. During preparation of the plan, amendments to Cabinet Regulation No. 702 of 10 August 2004, “Individual Protection and Use Regulations for Ragakāpa Nature Park”, were drafted.

During the public consultation on the plan, from 6 to 26 March, the content of the nature protection plan and other related documents can be viewed here. The plan and its materials will also be available at the Visitor Service Centre of the Jūrmala City Council, 1/5 Jomas Street, Jūrmala, on the first floor, on Mondays from 8:30 to 18:00, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 17:00, and Fridays from 8:30 to 16:00.

From 6 to 26 March, anyone interested may submit written proposals concerning the nature protection plan by sending them to the Jūrmala City Council at 1/5 Jomas Street, Jūrmala, LV-2015, or to birojs@vkb.lv. Further information is also available by calling 67557668.

We invite you to familiarise yourself with the content of the nature protection plan for Ragakāpa Nature Park and participate in the public consultation meeting on 21 March 2019 at 17:00 at the Jūrmala City Council, 1/5 Jomas Street, in the first-floor hall.

We encourage residents, landowners and business operators to be active—to submit proposals and express their views on the future management and use of the area!

The nature protection plan is being prepared as part of European Union Cohesion Fund co-financed project No. 5.4.2.1/16/I/001 “Creating the Prerequisites for Better Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Protection in Latvia”.
