On 26 August, the “ESI” Wellbeing Festival will take place for the first time in the square behind the Jelgava Culture House. From 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., everyone interested is invited to take part free of charge in more than 30 educational classes, activities, nutrition masterclasses, discussions and lectures on healthy lifestyle topics.

The “ESI” Wellbeing Festival will provide Jelgava residents and city visitors with an excellent opportunity to broaden their knowledge and understanding of a healthy lifestyle, which encompasses not only physical but also emotional health. Parents are invited to talks with experts on such topics as children’s sexual and reproductive health; the emotions of children and adolescents when facing situations of increased stress and overload; and alcohol, smoking and modern technologies—how these affect children and what can be done to protect them, among other topics.

Various discussions, lectures and masterclasses will take place at the event, where nutrition specialists will share advice on such topics as healthy snacking, changing unhealthy habits and introducing new ones, and using and preserving seasonal produce, among many others.

Participants will have the opportunity to try various types of physical activity, from moving their hips to the rhythms of Zumba to exercises for a healthy back, yoga classes and AntiGravity—not only for adults but also for children. The programme will also include TRX, deepWORK, TABATA, Pilates, PIYO, bodyART and other classes. We invite you to bring your own exercise mat, drinking water, a towel and similar items. Those without their own mat will be able to receive one from the organisers on site (limited quantity). Advance registration is required for classes with limited equipment!

Alongside the “ESI” Wellbeing Festival on 26 August, honouring the dairy, bread and honey products so traditional in the Latvian diet, the “General Latvian Milk, Bread and Honey Festival 2017” will take place for the seventeenth time in Duke Jacob’s Square, bringing together more than 180 traders and craftspeople. Meanwhile, breathtaking events will take place in Jelgava, on the waters of the Lielupe, where families, groups of friends and teams from various companies will participate in the year’s most entertaining event, the “15th White Milk Carton Boat Regatta”, aboard homemade vessels made from 43 000 one-litre milk cartons from AS “Tukuma Piens”.

Admission to all events and participation in the activities of the “ESI” Wellbeing Festival are free of charge.

The festival is organised by JPPI “Kultūra” in cooperation with the Jelgava City Council and the Jelgava Social Affairs Administration במסגרת of the project “Implementation of Comprehensive Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Measures in the City of Jelgava, Phase 1”, project number 9.2.4.2/16/I/085.
