To reduce queues for identity documents – passports and eID cards, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (hereinafter – the Office) has extended opening hours at all its territorial offices from 19 July until the end of the summer.

Summer is traditionally the busiest time of the year, when demand for the issuance of identity documents increases. At the same time, the number of clients who make appointments to receive services but fail to attend and do not cancel their appointments also increases significantly, thereby creating queues for services. Since June this year, more than 8,000 clients have failed to attend and have not cancelled their appointments.

To enable as many clients as possible to have their identity documents issued in good time, the opening hours of the Office’s territorial offices are being extended from 19 July. It is expected that the changes to opening hours will enable the Office to serve more than 1,000 additional clients per week.

The Office also once again calls on clients to act responsibly and cancel their appointments if they are unable to attend at the scheduled time. Each cancelled appointment enables the Office to provide a service to another client waiting in the queue.
