Preiļi Museum Object of the Month

The Preiļi Museum of History and Applied Arts’ object of the month for May is a unique prayer book written in the Latgalian language, with slips bearing the verses of May devotions placed between its pages. This 19th-century prayer book belonged to Veronika Žihare (1882–1968), the grandmother of Jānis Streics, an outstanding Latvian film director, screenwriter, actor, writer, painter, and Honorary Citizen of Preiļi.
