Preiļi Municipality Council decides to participate in the Nikodems Rancāns competition

At the 28 April meeting of the Preiļi Municipality Council, the deputies decided to participate in the competition organized by the Latgalian Culture Association and dedicated to Nikodems Rancāns, and to allocate €200 in prize money for the competition laureates.
Educational institutions in the municipality are invited to nominate candidates for the Nikodems Rancāns competition by 31 August.
The competition is organized to honour Nikodems Rancāns’s contribution to Latgalian culture and education. The purpose of the award is not only to preserve the memory of Nikodems Rancāns, but also to promote the teaching profession and enhance its prestige in society by recognizing the work of outstanding and dedicated educators. Candidates for the Nikodems Rancāns Award will be evaluated in several categories, reflecting his diverse pedagogical work, by a jury whose members will be invited from the Ministry of Education and Science, local governments of the Latgale municipalities, and the education and cultural sectors.
The competition is organized by the Latgalian Culture Association in cooperation with the local governments of the Latgale municipalities and the Rēzekne Academy of Technologies.
